A tractor-trolley mowed down a 21-year-old youth who fell in its path after being hit by a motorcycle in Sidhwan Bet.
The victim has been identified as Gursewak Singh of Bangsipura village.
Police have arrested the tractor trolley driver and also booked the motorcyclist on the basis of the complaint lodged by the victim’s father Malkit Singh.
The complainant said his son was heading towards Sidhwan Bet from Kishanpura Chowk on his motorcycle, adding, “When he reached near Chakkiya Wala Chowk, a motorcyclist, later identified as Rashpal Singh of Khursaidpura, who was coming from the opposite direction, hit my son’s motorcycle following which my son lost control over the vehicle and fell on the road. But before he could get up, a tractor trolley crushed him.”
The victim was rushed to hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries.
The motorcyclist who hit the victim managed to escape after the incident, but the tractor-trolley driver, identified as Gurjant Singh of Akuwal, was handed over to the police by the public.
A case under sections 304A (death by negligence), 279 (rash driving) and 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against both the accused at Sidhwan Bet police station.
